Hmmm, I've had time to reconsider. I can actually see where he is coming from, the 2 pictures which I removed were both exceptionally powerful pictures. The effect that I am going for is subtle, and thus would be ill suited to the subject material as the sorts of stuff I was applying (burn, dodge, saturations, hue, etc. ) would have little effect. This might not be what he meant, but I'm taking from it a powerful lesson:

Do not fuck with good photos. There ain't much that can be done.
